Cerulean Vault v1.3 Release


Hey there, everyone!  Though it's a couple days late, I'm happy to finally share the Cerulean Vault's Time Trial Mode with you all!   As with the last release, I'll only be posting the patch notes here - for a bit more of a discussion about the time trial system, check out the Kickstarter post at this link.

Kin Spire

  • Access to the Kin Spire menu has been restored in a limited capacity
    • Presently, Capboy’s only ability is Rejuvenation, which will fully restore his health and respawn all enemies.  Additionally, a new feature has been added...
  • Rejuvenating at a Kin Spire now resets certain portions of the level.  At the moment, these include:
    • Rift Bells
    • Moving Platforms
    • Spinning Platforms

Time Trials

  • Time trials have been added, activated from the Trial Brazier found at the beginning of the level.
  • Time trials feature four records to beat: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
    • For this Vault, the time trial thresholds are the following:
      • Bronze: 2m30s
      • Silver: 2m0s
      • Gold: 1m40s
      • Platinum: 1m20s
    • In the future, the rewards for these will be properly-balanced Kelfos/Sausages/Grimbones.  However, considering the current lack of combat content in the Cerulean Vault demo, these are going to be a bit more interesting...beat the records to see what they are!
  • Time trials feature a new placeholder song that plays when the player has enabled the time trial, but has not yet started it
  • Starting a time trial resets level geometry akin to a Kin Spire
  • In future releases, the player will need to complete the main level before unlocking the corresponding time trial - as players have likely already done this, the brazier will be unlocked by default in this demo.

Polishing

  • Challenge rings are now orange, and feature particle effects
  • The Timed Rings Challenge has been visually reworked, now featuring a smaller Time Trial Brazier alongside a rewards pedestal

Bugfixing

  • Mantling now properly exits the slipdash state
  • Fixed indexing issue with Rift Bells
  • Fixed issue where Capboy could get stuck on rails when moving at immense speeds, especially when moving upwards.
  • Fixed rare issue where Capboy would get stuck in the slipdash state at the origin

Misc. Other Changes

  • The reward for the Timed Rings challenge has been changed - once again, you’ll have to play it to find out!
  • Backend work has been done to prepare for an attribute/sausage levelling overhaul, involving the replacement of one stat with a brand-new slipdash-focused one.  More on this soon!
